CREDENTIALS

Frederick A. Lindley, Ph.D., is an educational consultant, university adjunct instructor, distance learning course designer, former school administrator, and author.

As an adjunct instructor in the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of Dayton, Dr. Lindley writes and designs distance learning courses for aspiring school administrators. He also provides technical support for the department's distant learning students and instructors.

Dr. Lindley has worked in higher education since 1996, following a 36-year career (34 years as a school principal) in Ohio public schools. He received the 2003 "Excellence in Educational Leadership Award" from the University Council for Educational Administration.

Dr. Lindley is the author of The Portable Mentor (Corwin Press, 2008) This text, now in its second edition, serves as a resource for entry-year principals and principal-mentors.

Dr. Lindley's principal mentoring experience, which began in 1996, includes two years when he served as the Regional Support Site Coordinator for 37 counties in the western region of the Ohio Department of Education "Entry-Year Principal" program. Duties involved the training and coordination of principal mentors who guided entry-year principals through the entry-year and supported the first-year administrators as they completed their Professional Practice Portfolios. Dr. Lindley also served as the project's chief writer of curriculum for training principal mentors.

Dr. Lindley received his doctorate from Miami University of Ohio.
